Deathwing on a Shoestring part 1
Posted on
Hi All,
I am going to do a mini series on my biggest project of the last few years, my 2K Deathwing Army. I'd like to start with the army gallery, do a post on building/painting the army and finish with a look at how they play and a muse of what might be in store come next week.
In March last year I realised that the imminent arrival of my first child would change my hobby for the foreseeable future. I needed an army that was quick to produce, took up minimal space and could be done on a budget. I had been wanting to do Deathwing for years and it fit the bill perfectly. A large amount of the army is based on the Dark Vengeance terminators, needing only 2 Deathwing boxes total, the Dreads were salvaged from the dregs of eBay and a friend's bits box (a project on their own).
The bone colour was complete in one go across the whole army by washing over white, I'll cover this more in a later post. Leaving the details to be batch painted by squad.
All in all, I am really pleased with the final results of how the army looks and it's a lot of fun to play with.
Coming in at under £100, fitting in one box and taking me only 3 months it was just the project I needed to keep me playing 40K.
Building on a budget and quick painting covered in my next post.
Feel free to comment and ask questions.
Thanks,
Rich
